Neighborhoods in South-East Danville
By South-East, I am referring to the area south of Sycamore Valley Road and east of 680. Here can be found a number of neighborhoods, some small and some not so small.
Among the best known of these is Greenbrook, a subdivision that dates back to the 1960s. Others are Danville Station, Greenwood and Shadow Hills. The boundaries between these neighborhoods is not always so clear and causes much confusion, particularly to newcomers to the area.
Note that although many of these homes were built almost 50 years ago, there are numerous fine examples of extensive and tasteful remodels and expanded homes with the result home sales over $1 million are not at all uncommon. Danville residents realize that their home is their most valuable posession and in the main seem very willing to maintain it to a high standard and continue investing in it.
At the south-east extremity of this area, almost on the San Ramon border, is Danville's first gated community, Crow Canyon Country Club. This is a neighborhood that must have seemed way ahead of its time when it was first under development in the 1970s.
Crow Canyon Country Club is a true country club with manned, gated entrance, clubhouse with restaurant and a golf course that provides a particularly attractive setting for the homes, many of which back to it. Interestingly, these are not all "high end" homes. There are two distinct developments here, The Villas, which are fairly small single story duets with small yards (for the time) and internal atriums, and the remainder, being single family homes of varying sizes. Crow Canyon Country Club is popular with all ages including many empty nesters who enjoy the benefits of country club living combined with the low outgoings related to living in one of the Villas.
