Blackhawk Neighborhoods

Blackhawk is an unincorporated area east of Danville that is bordered by Camino Tassajara, Blackhawk Road, backing to Diablo State Park. With around 2,500 homes, it is divided into six individual gated communities all located along Blackhawk Road, plus Blackhawk Country Club. All these neighborhoods are connected by a 3-mile long jogging trail.

Hidden Oaks, the first of the Blackhawk neighborhoods was completed in 1978 and consists of 206 single family homes, most of them on half-acre lots. Some of these, it has to be admitted, are now showing their age, but many have been updated and remodeled to a high standard and Hidden Oaks remains one of Blackhawk's sought after locations.

The second neighborhood to be completed, and perhaps the most impressive, was Saddleback. Here can be found some of the most amazing homes in the whole of Blackhawk. Many of these are in the same vein as those seen on Blackhawk Drive and some of them are set on lots of up to 2.5 acres.

Oakridge, nearby, has mostly much smaller homes, typically from 2000 to 3000 square feet, although there is a small number of larger propertiesat the top of a private court.

Tennis Villas, on the other side of Blackhawk Road, is a small community with a number of tennis courts and a pool, all on just one road, Tennis Club Drive. This is a neighborhood where homes are rarely offered for sale.

Silveroak, nearer to Camino Tassajara, is a development of upscale townhome style condominiums.

Silver Maple appears at first glance to be just a section of Blackhawk Country Club. It is built around part of one of the the golf courses and the homes here are very similar to many there but in fact, Silver Maple has its own gated entrance off Blackhawk Road and no roads connect it to the rest of the main Blackhawk Country Club.

Blackhawk Country Club is by far the largest development of course, with a number of individual neighborhoods as well as an incredibly diverse range of extraordinary residences with living space up to 16,000 square feet and lot sizes to around 3 acres. Inside this lavish envirnoment are two golf courses, The Falls and The Lakeside, together with acres of open space and cultivated areas of greenbelt. There really is nowhere else like Blackhawk. What many people do not realize is that there is a much wider selection of housing here than is apparent at first glance. In addition to the large custom homes for which Blackhawk is noted, there is a number of individual neighborhoods inside Blackhawk Country Club, some of them being relatively modest single family homes as well as some duet and townhome developments.

In addition to the residential areas, there is plenty of support here. In addition to golf and numerous other activities within Blackhawk Country Club, there are plenty of shopping and enetertainment opportunities at The Shops At Blackhawk, among other shopping centers as well as the world renowned Behring Motor Museum and a multi-screen movie theater.
